This is my third November living in Paris and, as you may know by now, it’s my favorite month of the year here. So, as I have every year since I arrived, I’m posting a picture of the great beauty in her autumn attire. I seem to have started a little tradition for myself.
I took the other pictures on bright, crisp days because there are often quite a few of those in November, but there haven’t been so many this year. So I took this year’s picture on one of those days that make Parisians hate the month because it says “Next stop: winter.”
But not me. I love these November days just as much as the others. Fall becomes her so.

Voilà les feuilles sans sève
Qui tombent sur le gazon,
Voilà le vent qui s’élève
Et gémit dans le vallon,
Voilà l’errante hirondelle .
Qui rase du bout de l’aile :
L’eau dormante des marais,
Voilà l’enfant des chaumières
Qui glane sur les bruyères
Le bois tombé des forêts.
Lamartine’s poem which tell more than I could say what automen and november means for me.
So beautiful. Fall is my favorite season and Paris in Fall has to be perfection. I have never been there in the fall. Really gorgeous photo.
La Belette, you see you must absolutley see Paris in the fall. Look at how it inspires songs and poetry!
I’m trying (in vain) to locate the church in the background, as I spent countless weekend in Paris during the 90s (my ex had a sister living as an expat in Saint Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, so Paris was close with the RER)
Although it’s been a while (my partner overdosed on cities and can be hard to convince to board a train in Brussels) I’ve always loved Paris before the Christmas rush.
Hi Peter.
The church is in between rue des Barres and rue de Brosse (perpendicular to the Seine) and rue de l’Hôtel de Ville (parallel to the Seine) on the rive droite just as you’re about to enter the Marais!
I think it’s the Eglise St. Gervais: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89glise_Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais_de_Paris
