Alice and her looking glass keep cropping up in some form or another in my life these days… Today Vincent found an appealing personality test on The Presurfer. You find out what book you are after answering only six questions. Despite that, the personality descriptions are eerily accurate…
This is my book:
You’re Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland!
by Lewis Carroll
After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you’ve had your mind opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser, you have to ask yourself what’s real and what’s the picture of illusion. Little is coming to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that it’s starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile too much, and just avoid hat shops altogether.
This is Vincent’s:
You’re Watership Down!
by Richard Adams
Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you’re actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You’d be recognized as such if you weren’t always talking about talking rabbits.
Take The Book Quiz on The Blue Pyramid (and let me know if you do).
You know something? This used to be one of my favorite books until I found out it was written by a pedophile. That knowledge ruined it for me, even as I tried to overlook the fact and remain focused on the story.
Oh, and “you might be one of the greatest people of all time.” is dead on accurate. ;)
And this was my result:
You’re Inherit the Wind!
by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
To you, the learning process is inherently about controversy. If people aren’t having their minds stretched, how could they possibly be learning? This makes you a good but unpopular teacher, and the people around you are ready to make it a federal case. All you’re asking them to do is evolve a little. But they would like you to be more creative. You would make an excellent lawyer, even though people think you love monkeys.
My results: The Giver!
by Lois Lowry
While you grew up with a sheltered childhood, you’re pretty sure everyone around you is even more sheltered. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, you were tapped on the shoulder and transported to the real world. This made you horrified by your prior upbringing and now you’re tormented by how to reconcile these two lives. Ultimately, the struggle comes down to that old free will issue. Choose wisely.
I have read both of your books. I have never read my own. Just out of curiosity, I am putting it in my Amazon.com cart. Fun! Merci!!
Well, I got “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley a book I haven’t even read. Also I am, it seems, “focused on women”, so there you go.
A bit of fun, thank you, but I kept wanting more options at each point – was I impressed by legends or crowds? Hmmm, are they really the only choices I get? Am I long winded or concise? Well, yes, but on the other hand ….
Well, David, this definitely belongs in my Frivolity category. One of my questions was “Do you like snow?”. Now that’s a question that reveals a lot about a person… I guess the questions change too, because I didn’t get either of the two you mention… Oh well! I always make time for a little silliness. Otherwise, I’d just crumble.
Claudia and Belette. It’s so nice to have playmates! I haven’t read either of your books. What do you think of the descriptions with regard to yourselves? Do you think in general they’re like horoscopes, that is, that pretty much anybody could find something in them that applies to themselves? Probably. But it was fun!
Dick’s book is “Anne of Green Gables”, and he’s never even read it!
Well, Dick should read Anne of Green Gables, everyone should have read it at least once.
This quiz is clever. I had assumed initially that each choice would simply lead you to another choice, but with only 5 pairs of choices or whatever the number is, this wouldn’t result in many book titles. So presumably they are randomizing the first choice that each person gets, and then there are a much larger number of choices ultimately available. Be interesting to know how many, but certainly some odd titles (like mine) are coming up, so there must be a lot of variation built in.
And yes, good to have a litle bit of silliness from time to time, and it is good that Dick is being introduced to Anne (with an E) as a result!
Pam,
I thought it was eerily accurate. Until the last part. I’m still trying to figure out the monkey bit. ;) (Unless they were talking about my husband).
And David, Mists of Avalon is my favorite book (and movie) of all time. WORTH reading, even if it IS chick related. ;)
My pal Dennis played the book game too! He’s the one in the candy shop in “Bon bon”. http://derwerffblogg.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/which-book-are-you/
Thought you’d like to know that the sequel to this quiz, the Book Quiz II, was launched yesterday. Enjoy!
