It’s important not to let yourself be manipulated into believing that all men in the Muslim world are a bunch of evil fanatics who do nothing but run around in nightgowns burning American flags.
They’re just the ones who make CNN. And we know what watching CNN will get you…
This is the real world, not the wonderful world of Disney… Time to get past the good guys/bad guys thing. It’s infantile and lazy. Open your mind. Make an effort to learn about Iran. Question your government’s motives. Protest loudly. Besides, in case you haven’t noticed lately, America ain’t exactly a good guy.
The Muslims who don’t make the news look like this:
If it weren’t for the hookah, this could have been taken at UCLA. (Actually, Roger tells me hookahs are all the rage, so it very well could have been taken in LA!) In fact, it was taken in Iran, which is one of the most westernized of the Middle Eastern countries. (Another is Lebanon. Iraq used to be one till Mighty Mouse decided to save the day.) These kids just want to discuss philosophy, listen to music, and get naked with each other. Leave ‘em alone.
And this is what Iran looks like.
Sure there are murderous fundamentalist nutjobs in Iran. But there are murderous fundamentalist nutjobs in the US too. In power, thanks to American ignorance and criminal apathy. So don’t throw stones.
Call Congress and tell your representatives to support Sen. Jim Webb’s bill to stop Bush from invading Iran.
Don’t let George Bush and his Insane God Posse start a war with this country.
